Product Description

Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) represents a fundamental shift in the way businesses must approach risk. As the economy becomes more service driven and globally oriented, businesses cannot afford to let new, unforeseen areas of risk remain unidentified. Currency fluctuations, human resources in foreign countries, evaporating distribution channels, corporate governance, and unprecedented dependence on technology are just a few of the new risks businesses must assess.

This accessible book, aimed at the implementers and practitioners of ERM, provides a highly structured approach so you can easily implement processes in your own organization. You′ll find a number of case studies and practical examples from a variety of industries. The chapters are organized in a way that leads you through ERM implementation and include risk identification techniques, risk modelling methods, and the underlying statistics. From the Inside Flap
“Enterprise Risk Management is a necessary and valuable tool for identifying, quantifying and mitigating risks across an organisation but it is also a significant undertaking in terms of knowledge and application. In these days of fiscal regulatory and political correctness this book addresses ERM in its broadest sense, providing useful reference and examples. Written in a clear and concise manner the content should be of tremendous value to anyone involved in risk, audit or corporate governance whether as an analyst or board member.”

Risk Management for everyone, a black art put to the sword5
I am a relative newcomer to the world of Risk Management and have operated as a Risk Manager for the last 5 years in various UK companies. I take personal development extremely seriously and believe passionately that today's professionals must keep abreast of emerging Risk Management concepts and processes if they want to be able to exploit tomorrow's opportunities.

This book is written to be read and laid out in such a fashion that the subject matter is easily accessible. The concepts are explained in enough depth that you can understand the principles without having to get bogged down with the technicalities.

It takes you through the Governance and Assurance agenda that is driving the adoption of Risk Management in most companies, through to the principles and processes that will help you to establish an Enterprise Risk Management system for your organisation.

Each chapter can be read as a standalone and the book is designed to be dipped into as required.

Chapmans writing is clear and non-academic and this in itself makes for an interesting read.

I would recommend that this book be purchased by everyone in a senior management position, as it quickly covers a substantial piece of Risk Management ground, while helping to quickly contextualise today's and possibly tomorrows Risk Management agenda. (keep ahead of the curve)

I for one will keep this book not on my bookshelf, but in my briefcase, I rate it that highly.

Excellent Resource5
I found this book to deliver. Firstly R.J Chapman takes a critical perspective and guides the reader through the risk management process. Secondly, the quality of content is evident, and well researched. For those who have studied international or strategic marketing - ERM is highly relevant discipline. For those who want to account for the right risks, and mitigate the wrong risks at all cost - then enterprise risk management is worth the investment.
