Perfect for Pilates
The mat is 10mm thick, smooth on the underside and ribbed on the side that you lie on. Rolled up, it is 17cm (nearly 7 inches) in diameter and held in place by two webbing straps with velcro fastenings that are linked by a webbing strap that acts as carrying strap, or shoulder strap. Despite the thick construction, it is lighter than the thinner mat that my wife uses, so it is easy to take to classes.

The mat is comfortable even when kneeling on knobbly knees - I have Osgood Schlatters on one knee - without being too soft. The ribbed surface gives good grip without being sticky and, it doesn't elongate when doing spine curls - a much nicer movement than on the thin mats at the leisure centre that I attend.

As expected with a rolled mat, the ends can curl up slightly when unrolled on the floor, but this isn't a problem if the mat is rolled with the base outwards after a class, and then with the other face outwards after the next class. The carrying strap is a bit short to use as a shoulder strap, but a longer strap could be used between the two webbing straps if necessary. The diameter of the rolled up mat - much like a camping bed roll - may make it difficult to find a suitable bag, but the smooth wipe down underside means that it can usually be stored and carried without a bag.

This mat made the Pilates class more enjoyable and, was a good price given the thickness.

This mat is a great thickness and size for pilates.

It is more bulky that a yoga mat, but you won't get sore knees.

Carry handle is a bit short - could do with a proper cover for the price.
