An Outstanding Resource, For Students And Professionals Alike
I've worked as a freelance Editor since 2000, and after picking this book up last week, haven't been able to put it down.
In this broadcast age, when we all need to know more than a bit about every aspect of production, this book offers the reader just that.
What's just as significant, it strikes a perfect balance between the art of film-making, and the technical minutiae that is so important.
I picked this book up, expecting it to be full of half-baked, ill-informed pro-sumer DV advice. But I found it to be extremely thorough, very well informed and up-to-date.

A complex book written in an accessible language
This book gives the answers to all levels of questions: those of a filmmaking student, those encountered on the set and even some interesting issues for professionals.
I like the accessible language - no sophisticated expressions, explaining "why"s, "pro"s and "against"s.
I love the links used (sending to other chapters and pages) to give extra information or to connect two concepts.
I have it for almost a month now and it was fully browsed - the volume starts losing some pages but a precious collection of information otherwise.

Really all the (technical) information on filmmaking.
When you have a serious interest on filmmaking or when you're growing to a professional level, are coming into film-business without a past in filmschools, you'll find this book extremely usefull. Everytime I have questions on technical issuess, this my first source. One of the few books on filmmaking that is really essential to me!
