Customer Reviews

good but not the best4
The performance is quite good but I dont think it measures up to the Menuhin peformances, esp the HMV disc with Klemperer which features two very good bonus tracks (the consecration of the house, and Leonore No3 overture) has better sound quality, and is also half the price.
Although the violin solo is in parts very original I think that Kennedy is just a little too harsh overall in comparison with Menuhin.

An education from Nigel Kennedy5
I wasn't familiar with the pieces on this album when I bought it - I went by his name only. Four years later it is my absolute favorite CD. The emotion Kennedy conveys is second to none. Buy it! If you don't like it at first, keep on playing it - you will!

A magnificent and lively performance by Nigel Kennedy!5
Nigel Kennedy plays in his very own unique way and delivers a very lively and just absolutely magnificent performance! The larghetto is especially quiet but simultaneously very lively. Klaus Tenstedt is an exellent conductor as usual.
