A great disc of great music
As I am a big fan of Bennett's music I was excited to see this release from Chandos and I am pleased to say I was not let down.
The music is wonderfully tuneful and whilst I listen I can not help but visualise the scenes from the films.
The sound is also amazing. It's so clear and powerfull at times that you can't help yourself being swept into it and I must say, the electronic instruments mentioned by the person from Sheffield, do not detract from the enjoyment one bit.
I recomment that anyone who is interested in Bennett's music buys this disc!
What a shame!
I bought this CD for the 'Enchanted April' track in particular, but it was ruined by terrible synthetic 'ondes martenot', which purges the otherwise beautiful music of any soul. Why couldn't they keep the oboe of the film?
The use of synthetic instruments continues throughtout the CD, which I find, cheapens the sound of the CD. If only it were done properly, it would have been so good!
