Put It this way. this is Ninja Gaiden that is actually possible. I loved ninja gaiden, but for me some of it was bloody difficult. Wolverine is very similar. Blood, blood, body bits, gore, unnesseaary combos that killed the enemy way before you finished attacking them, and some more blood.

i think you would agrre movie tie in games are 99% crap. this is the 1%. absolutely outstanding graphics as well. relplay value is huge. i think the only thing it is missing like alot of beat up games is multiplayer. but thats a very small miss.

God of Wolverine. No, Wolverine of War, no - oh, you get the idea
Lets get this out of the way right now - yes, this is a by the numbers hack n' slash. Yes it does rely heavily on the game mechanics laid down by God of War, and yes, it suffers the same limitations as any game in this genre.
If you are still here, then the chances are, you like a bit of hack n' slash, and are curious as to how well Logan has been inducted into that gaming world. Rest assured, his transition is a triumph! :-) The game hangs on the story framework laid down by the film, elaborating on certain bits, changing others slightly, but there are no huge variations. The big difference is to be found in the content of the action - as soon as you start playing, you realise that this is the movie hollywood wouldnt let them make- limbs flying, gore squirting everywhere- not only is this more graphic than the family friendly (though still good, IMO) movie, it is also more full on than all but a small number of Wolverine comics, and none have the sustained visceral action of the game. This truly is Wolverine uncaged! :-O

Gameplay involves destruction of people and property- thats it, apart from some very, very simple problem solving tasks (get crank, fight back to door, insert crank, crank crank, open door), but there is such joy to be had in the violence (Mad World may have got the Wii crown, but this gives it a run for its money, even also having environment kills), that you just dont want it to be interrupted by pesky use of your brain. This is not 'hulk smash', its 'Logan slash!'. A big element of the game is the use of your 'lunge' attack, and believe me, it never gets old leaping a huge chasm to land blades in chest of a bad guy, or leaping from vehicle to vehicle, or onto the back of some enourmous end of level boss. So much leaping, and roaring, and slicing...*snikt!* ;-)

You get rewarded for the carnage with an impressive range of power-ups, unlockable combo's, and special abilities, which, whilst not being 'Final Fantasy', do add a compulsive element to play and replay- after all, how could you not watch in fascination as Logan gets more powerful, less destructable, and more viscious with every passing goon that you turn to mincemeat? Did I mention the unlockable costumes? how about the awesome healing effects, or the fact that the graphics are better than any media review give it credit for?

Its Wolverine in a bezerker rage, under your control, for 8 hours- for god's sake, how could you not want to buy this even if I hadn't of liked it!?
