Expensive, but useful
Bought this even after having read the one-star review here. Having once dropped a camera, chipping the screen glass in the process, I'm now of the opinion that any protection is better than none - especially on such a valuable camera. Being a Hoodman item the plastic cover fits well and performs its, albeit limited, role as well as can possibly be expected. Rather expensive for what it is, but hey, if you can afford the camera ...

Not needed for a D3
Note that the D3 LCD screen is covered by a hardened glass plate so this Hoodman item, although nice, isn't really required.
Discovered only *after* I'd bought one...

why not
As said expensive but I would rather keep cleaning this than my screen it fits well very pleased my only problem is with nikon they should have put one on in the first place like they did on my D700
