Editorial Reviews

Amazon.co.uk Review
Baby Signs is a remarkably simple way to improve communication between parent and child, using the everyday signals and mimicry that every baby learns from an early age in order to develop an understanding and rapport.

Authors Linda Acredlo and Susan Goodwyn, both active members of the International Society for Infant Studies, show how easy it is to use simple signs to help parents to gain a greater understanding of their baby, while helping the baby to develop skills that will benefit them greatly as they mature into toddlers.

Using no-nonsense language and easy-to-follow photographs, Baby Signs interprets the early gestures of infancy and encourages parents to interact with their offspring without pressure, while learning to enjoy the pleasures of a small child as he or she begins to interact with the world.

Encouragement, repetition and laughter are the order of the day in this cracking little book, designed to help parent and child get the most out of each other as they learn together.--Susan Harrison

This book changed our lives5
I cannot emphasize enough how wonderful and valuable this book is. It is written clearly and simply, and even busy parents can digest it in an hour or so. And what a difference that hour will make! You can begin communicating with your child almost immediately. Using "baby signs" as described in this book will not delay your child's language development. (That's the first questions most grandparents will ask!) On the contrary, it gets you both so addicted to communicating with each other that the motivation for developing spoken language is as strong as it could be. This book really did change our lives. It was so wonderful to be able to communicate clearly and specifically with our daughter in the months before her now incredible verbal abilities blossomed forth. "Baby signs" truly provide a window into your baby's mind. I am very grateful I discovered it when I did and urge all parents of young babies to put these signs to work for you.

Common sense suggestions for improved communication4
A very good book indeed. It spells out a system of signs for communication between carer and child which is simply an enlargement of what most parents do on a day-to day basis without realising it. Having read this book, and now being aware of the concepts behind baby-signs, I am using the principles with my 6-month old daughter and it is already paying off. It is an exciting time when you realise a baby who cannot talk yet actually knows exactly what they want and has a means to tell you!

Very useful from 5 months4
I'm using it with my baby now and finding it great. At 6 months he knows the signs for bottle and food and that's damn useful. A godsend. Mandy. 34 years. First time mother. UK
