Joe Royle became the youngest player to play for Everton in February 1966 and went on to win six caps under Alf Ramsey and Don Revie. Injury forced a premature end to his career at 32, after spells with Manchester City, Bristol City, and Norwich. Then he became 'the manager who fell of the back of a lorry' when joining Oldham in 1982. Fourteen fantastic, fairytale years followed at the hard-up, homespun Lancashire club which Royle put on the soccer map. Oldham achieved the impossible by going to Wembley and spending three years in the Premiership. Then, it was off to Everton, to Manchester City, and to Ipswich as manager. With a foreword by Sir Alex Ferguson, this book is an honest account of Joe's career and life, written with his full cooperation.

Royle Blue Review.
When interviewed on television, Joe Royle constantly comes across as a knowledgeable football pundit and a gentleman with a likable sense of dry humour. This commendable book displays all of these qualities. As an Evertonian, Joe will always be regarded as a double hero, a championship winning player and an FA Cup winning manager. However, unlike many footballing autobiographies, the appeal of this book will not be restricted to fans of one particular team. Joe is rightly regarded as a hero by fans of Everton, Oldham, Ipswich and possibly even Manchester City. Joe gives an honest and frank account of the people and situations that shaped his illustrious playing career with England, Everton, Man City, Bristol City and Norwich City. However, despite these playing achievements, the book is at its most impressive when covering Joe's remarkable managerial career. Working within tight budgetary constraints Joe Royle's achievements as a football manager at times defy belief. The book, like the man himself, punches well above it's weight.
Big fat Joe's barmy army!
As an avid Oldham Athletic supporter, it's difficult to be impartial where Joe Royle is concerned. The man is simply a legend. It's fantastic to re-live, through this book, the glory days of the early 90's, the 'pinch me' season, the 3 wembley appearances and the 'great escape'. But that's just Oldham.
This book chapters Joe's life from when he was a child dreaming of playing professional football up until last year when he was still manager of Ipswich Town. (sadly, he's no longer there).
Joe's playing career was good, but management is where he excels, with two promotions with Manchester City and an FA Cup winners medal as manager of his hometown team, Everton.
I bought this book to read about his time as 'Latics' boss, but the rest of the book is just as interesting. Also with a foreword from Alex Ferguson, this book is a great read for football fans worldwide.
Outstanding Man.
This Man is Amazing. He tries so Hard to make Ipswich Town FC the best, and he generally tries to do everything he can to the top of his ability. This is no exception, Brilliantly Written, Well Done Joe - Buy Today, no mistake i guarantee!
