He is the greatest striker in the game. Thierry Henry is the enigmatic multimillionaire Frenchman who has put the va-va-voom into the Premiership. Adored by fans of Arsenal and France worldwide, he has twice been voted Player and Footballer of the Year. But this living legend started his career with a pair of borrowed boots and endured a hazardous journey from Guadeloupe to France, whose national side he would join. He stayed focussed on the ball and rose through the French ranks to be spotted by Arsene Wenger. At Arsenal, the pair re-established the north Londoners as giants. A World Cup and European Championship winner, Henry has his formidable sights set on the Champions League. He is a modern-day superstar. In this revealing biography, Ollie Derbyshire speaks to Henry's family, friends and team-mates and reveals for the first time the full story of a footballer destined to be ranked alongside giants such as Pele and Maradona.

A great account of the great Thierry Henry
It's hard to do such an incredible footballer justice, but this book comes about as close as is possible. Thierry Henry and Arsenal fans will absolutely love this book.
The main focus is on Henry's career, detailing his start out in football as a young boy on the streets of Paris, urged on by his determined father, all the way to his declaration in May 2006 that he would stay at Arsenal. As a football fan and an Arsenal fan, it was great to reminisce on some of Henry's earlier days at Arsenal, and the frequent Henry quotations really brought the book to life.
Some of the later chapters in the book, particularly Derbyshire's account of the final game at Highbury (and Henry's infamous kissing of the turf) and the Champions' League Final in 2006, are really quite emotional, and a great comfort to read having missed the King a lot this season.
A great read. Any fan of Henry- whether you're a gooner or not (though it certainly helps)- will love this.
For Arsenal Geeks only
Being a fan of Thierry Henry, but not of Arsenal, I read the reviews and got the book (luckily from the library so not out of pocket). I found the book pedantic and full of boring match statistics with very little information about the man himself.
It is a blow by blow account of every match that Arsenal played during Henry's time there, even whilst Henry was on the bench, with the author extremely interested in sharing his prolific knowledge of English teams' nicknames. The French matches are glossed over as is Henry the man. Do not buy this unless you are a diehard Arsenal fan who loves stats with no interest in learning about who is Thierry Henry.
Fantastic Book
This is a great book to read especially if you are a fan of Thierry Henry. You will get to read about the amazing life that he has had as a footballer and it is really interesting.
