Every song says liberty
I recently watched the excellent BBC Four programmes on Nana and was amazed by the beauty of her vocals. I brought this cd purely because it was so cheap and what a bargain it is. I don't know enough about Nana's back catalogue to determine whether it is a good overview or not but it seems pretty broad to me, it includes White Rose of Athens, Only Love which I know are two of her best selling songs. Also Plasir d'Amour which was the Eurovision entry I think (sung by Nana for Luxembourg). The very greek sounding Only on Sunday. The Lonely Shepherd has been used by Quentin Tarantino in Kill Bill v1 (you'll know it when you hear it). I Gave My Love a Cherry which I remember singing when I was a kid. Each song is sung so beautifully, the best in my mind being All My Trials which is just breathtaking. The only song which I dont think sits too well is the cover of Van Morrisons Moondance but that may well be because I can't stand it so its a personal thing. All in all I would say this would be a good cd for someone who is interested in seeing what Nana is all about. It worked for me - I am off to buy Nana sings Classical and The Girl from Greece sings. Her voice is lovely.
