Synopsis
A deliciously dark, black comedy masterpiece from the director of TANGUY. When Auntie Danielle (Tsilla Chelton) moves in with her great nephew, after driving her own housekeeper to an early grave, he and his wife hope that she will be the grandmother the children never had. However, it doesn't take long for the manipulative and malicious old lady to make everyone's life a misery. But the family go on holiday without her, leaving her in the care of bitter Sandrine (Isabelle Nanty), Auntie Danielle realises she's met her mischievous match!

Customer Reviews

Heartwarming, thought-provoking, and hilarious4
The fantastic story of a stubborn old woman, who plays havoc with her relatives' social lives, much to their dismay. They take the decision to go on holiday, but before they go they find her a live-in "babysitter", but things don't go according to plan... It made me laugh, cry and think hard about life. I loved every minute of it!

This film is fantastic! The things this old lady will do to make other people's lives hell! Her family happily let her live with them when her housekeeper is killed, until they realise what she is really like. Don't let the subtitles put you off, it is still just as funny! A masterpiece, completely under rated. It's also a great film to get you into watching French cinema, maybe lead on to other fantastic films such as Delicatessen and Amelie.

Love old Ladies- Think they are all harmless- Think again-You've been Warned!5
This is in my top 10 list of Favourite French comedies...If you have even the slightest twisted sense of Humour you will love this.
A lonely old lady living with/cared for by what appears to an even older Housekeeper, spend hers days being...well to put it politely "not very nice deliberately"..ends up living with Nephews family where the fun gets even better. I don't want to spoil the ending..though I thought i knew what was coming, then thought I was wrong...but an excellent twist...lets just say we don't always get what we deserve !!

Please don't let the subtitles turn you off,2 reasons 1st- the language used is at a level any O'level student or less should understand(though don't take this as the film is NOT well written, it is,the spoken words are just perfect, in creation & timing. 2nd: The well written subtitles are great leaving you more than enough time to see the all important looks on people faces, and underhand events...).

I would really recommend this is anyone above the 15+ age limit, An excellent well made Black comedy. Quote from DVD box " She's never met you and already she hates YOU"

Directed BY Etienne Chatliez- who went on to Direct "Tanguy"...another 5*
