Hours of fun5
This was my first venture back to Technic lego, since I was about 10 years old. (I'm now 30.) Parting with the money was a difficult choice, but I have to say that it's money very well spent. You get to build two models: the main integrated tow truck, and a cab and trailer type model. Once I had sorted out the pieces into various types, I got building. Each model took me the best part of the day, and I got my children involved by letting them get the pieces in advance. Both models have great functionality, and my children had a blast using them to tow various dolls cars around, pretending that the Bratz had a blow-out etc. Taking the models apart takes a while too, but stangely it's all part of the fun.
I forgot how satisfying building Lego sets can be, and it's proved very educational to my children about how gears etc all work.
Ive just ordered the 8421 Mobile Crane!!

Wow! What a load of fun this was!5
Whilst idly playing lego with my 4 year old daughter my wife asked me what I would like for Christmas. I somewhat frivolously said 'Buy me some lego - that technic stuff will do nicely'. To be honest, I didn't want anything else in particular and no doubt Mr C concurred with my viewpoint. Christmas Morning he presented me with this Lego set.

It was an ace present for me - kept me in the same room as the rest of the folks and gave me a bit of a challenge of a different sort. Tired of PC & Nintendo? Get one of these! Taking a whopping 14 hours to make it is very big and really is very satisfying to make.

I encountered no problems making it but its hard not to feel disappointed that - for the huge sum of money lego charge - the box cannot be resealed and there are no compartments for putting the bagged up items during build. I would suggest zip type freezer bags are a way forward...

I'm nearly 40 but this put a smile on my face - I don't think there's anything sad about it - at the end of the day I can chuck the pieces in with my daughters lego and it lasts her another 10 years. Can't do that with much else these days can you?

Recommended for any man honest enough to admit he's grown up but still wants to be a boy at Christmas!

LEGO THROUGH THE AGES!5
My dad (age 62) was asked what he would like for Christmas and this was what he asked for! Yes, he too after years of building with myself and my sister and now with my two young sons also felt the need to be included. I researched the web and after reading the very first review left here on Amazon it was a no brainer, that was what we were definitely going to get him.

I have to say it certainly kept him quiet for a week, except for the odd time when he argued with my 8 year old because he kept 'touching it' and wanted to help build, he can be very terrotorial at times! I then went on to buy him the motor, only to find that it works with one of the models and not both, slightly disappointing.

Overall, to see the delight on my dad's face at Christmas was worth every penny. There's not much that dads ask for but when they do it's worth getting what they want. If any man asks for this set - no matter what age - BUY IT!!
