Customer Reviews
Chuckle Brothers- at their best!
This is them in the good 'ol days. No nonsense like the newer stuff just pure nostalgia. This takes me back to my childhood days. This is a must for any chuckle fan- or just any fan of comedy.
A chuckle for kids of all ages
My children have recently got into The Chuckle Brothers as they are currently on CBBC. I bought this mainly for them but enjoyed it too. At 45 minutes run time i thought it may be on the short side but this is just right for my children, plus i don't really like them sitting in front of the TV for much longer in 1 go. Good value at the price. The Chuckle Brothers are still doing it for the kids (of all ages).
The Chuckle Brothers - A Marxist Interpretation
"To me!" comes the hearty cry of Paul Chuckle, the owner. "To you" plaintively returns Barry Chuckle, the worker. With this pithy exchange the brothers describe the flow of wealth from the poor to the rich. The bleak economy of the dialogue is accompanied by a visual grammar uncompromising in its relentlessly honest portrayal of the figures of authority to whom the brothers ply their trade. At turns fearful of duo, with their trademark clumsily handled ladder, at turns wrathful, they are shown to be ungrateful for the wealth the brothers create on their behalf. The irony at the heart of this series is that neither of the Chuckles has the vision to see their own plight. And also that neither of them are funny.
