Product Description
Until this point, electric bikes have been little more than toys - the Cyclamatic Power Plus will change that. Featuring a powerful motor that will propel you to speeds of up to 15mph with this 250 watt brushless motor (the highest legally allowed in the UK) and a battery that offers a range of in excess 45km, the Power Plus makes transportation on an electric bike a fun, cheap and practical option.
The bike can be used as a standard bike - the mountain bike frame, strong V-fork brakes, suspension and Shimano gears with quick-shift offer all the features of a premium bike. The Power Plus can be used simply as a traditional 'pedal' bike without any problems, however it also features two other modes:
Assisted mode will kick in the power as you start pedalling and add extra power to each cycle, propelling you faster and with less effort
Fully powered will take you from stationary to cruising speed at the flick of a wrist with absolutely zero leg movement

Customer Reviews
I've got a silver machine.
If you are wavering about whether to buy an electric bike, then waver no more. This machine far exceeds my expectations and has made cycling what it always should have been. If you get tired, meet strong headwinds or need to climb a steeper hill than you ever thought you could then press the red button... The bike can be ridden as an ordinary mountain bike but it is obviously heavier than a standard road bike.
I quickly got used to switching between peddle and motor power and it feels safe and comfortable. I do an eight mile loop of quite hilly cycling and there seems to be plenty of juice left after that. I haven't tried to drain the battery so far but I think the range will be good.
You will need a little cycling know-how to put it together, but nothing too specialized and I would advise you to try it out on a quiet road before launching yourself into the wider world.
This is a lot of bike for the money and it arrived very quickly, with all parts and in perfect condition.
UPDATE: 01.04.09
Weeks on and I continue to be REALLY impressed, but I would have liked a spare battery, which could not be supplied. That said, I still have not managed to run out of power - and I have tried...
Cyclamatic Electric Bike
I'm 55 and have been using this bike for about six weeks. This is quite a heavy bike compared to a standard bike - but appears to be well made. Once put together (following the clear instructions) it looks good and once you get pedalling (without power) it builds up a momentum. With power it's a breeze to ride head winds and hills - and when I feel like a complete break I let the power take over completely.
I get about 18miles out of it using pedal and electric power - not bad as this is a two days run for me to and from work until I need to re-charge it which takes about 6 hours.
It's useful to be in the right gear when using the pedal assist and also one has to be careful when using pedal assist when turning - now I ease off the pedals to avoid going too fast - or turn the power off just before approaching a turn.
All in all I love the bike and it is very reasonably priced and made my cycling much more pleasurable.
Cons.
1. Battery replacement is expensive at the moment.
2. Should a puncture happen on the back wheel it may be technically difficult to replace the inner tube - I'm preying this doesn't happen too soon or better still never.
3. Too heavy for me to carry.
Cycling is a joy even in Devon where we have hills.
I received the bike quite well packed and it took about 30 minutes to assemble it. It is brilliant. Charging can be done in doors as the battery lifts out of the cradle. Charging takes about 4 hours.
Riding the bike is wonderful. If you select assisted riding the motor cuts in and out as you pedal. What it means is that if you get up to the 15mph the motor tick over making riding effortless. Then when you get to a hill drop a couple of gears and quite steep hills become a breeze to cycle up.
The bike seems to be sturdy and well made. You will need a good lock. I also bought a super vibration activated alarm (Lock Alarm Mini [Sports]) which initially kept sounding but now I put it through the back wheel and lay it on the floor. No more false alarms.
