16 tracks in half an hour, with not a second wasted. Expletive-ridden indie-punk from a supergroup from Brighton, with a bit of Americana chucked in for good measure.

Original and tuneful indie folk music. Most tracks deal with different characters from the Decemberists' warped minds, like the lovelorn Eli The Barrow Boy or the injured hero in The Sporting Life.

Amazingly, they've bettered 'Mass Romantic' and 'Electric Version' with another album full of breezy pop classics. Mind you, A.C. Newman could probably fart a great tune so it's no surprise.

A welcome re-issue for this unsung classic, which probably inspired most of your favourite bands. Its disturbing genius lives on in creepy but gorgeous classics like 'Two Headed Boy'.

Another breathtaking album full of epic songs that, even though you can't understand the lyrics, are incredibly life-affirming. Lots of uplifting piano riffs and crashing crescendos.

Criminally underrated melodic pop group. Their latest album is really cool, although not quite as good as the masterpiece that was 2003's 'Let Go'. Still full of indie joy though.

Mew are a great singles band, so here we get a few unforgettable moments nestled amongst some decent proggy songs. 'The Zookeeper's Boy' is especially beautiful.

My Morning Jacket have finally perfected their woozy and occasionally rockin' alt-country. 'Z' may be short, but it's eclectic, tuneful and very, very sweet.

The Scottish electronica pioneers return .A more organic and warm record than 'Music Has The Rights...' or 'Geogaddi', but slightly lacking either's 'classic' status. Definitely worth buying, though.

Solid, Modest Mouse-esque indie-rock for those who know their stuff from- you guessed it- Canada. A treat for fans of growly guitar pop.

Second album of pop hooks from Zach Rogue. October seems to have been the cut-off point for good new albums, but please mail me with suggestions- though I left off the Babyshambles album for a reason.
