To the point
Excellent - combines original analysis with original sources and polemic. A fascinating guide to republican and socialist politics in the 1960s and early 1970s. The demolition of Eoghan Harris is total and deserved.
Terrorism: How to Respond
A definitive work
I can whole-heartedly recommend this book to anyone looking for a thorough analysis of the period covered by Swan's work. I found it revelatory to say the least. It's also good to see that Amazon is selling Swan's book and Lost Revolution as a job lot, they work well together. 'Lost Revolution' gives you the 'who shot who' story of the Official IRA, and 'Official Irish Republicanism' explains the political context of events and why the Officials developed as they did. It is certainly the clearest explanation of the structural political problems of Northern Ireland, and the problems this poses for left wing or liberal politics, that I have ever read. A very welcome addition to my library.
