Spectacular, informative and moving
Natural History programming is a real jewel in the crown of the BBC's programming and this breathtaking programme is a superb example. Following a sett of badgers through the year, the programme documents their movements both above the ground and below. The twists and turns of their fortune as they endure hardships and enjoy bounties throughout the year is movingly portrayed, as is the struggle for dominance between the males of the family (which includes one fight scene filmed underground which is as dramatic and memorable as any you're likely to see in a wildlife documentary). The footage from above the ground is superb; the footage from below the ground is simply unbelievable and certainly unique. David Attenborough's superb narration, interesting and well-informed, offers a final stamp of authority to the film. If you're interested in nature, you'll love this - it's a real treat.
Amazing
This is a must for animal lovers. Great insight into the way badgers interact with each other. Amazing to watch them collect bedding (just at the right time before it becomes damp) and "make their beds". One little guy becomes separated from his mum and siblings and tries to find them without success and has the sense to get himself back home and wait. Definitely a keeper.
Badgers - Secrets of the Sett
This is a truly wonderful DVD about badgers and I have to confess although I have lived in the countryside all my life I knew very little about badgers.
Watching this was like being taken into the sett with the family of badgers and you couldn't help but feel emotions as you watch their daily struggle.
David Attenborough provides the narration, the sound and picture quality is excellent as always with the BBC and at this price it's one for all the family to watch and enjoy.
