Watson could do better....
The game had promise and started well - spooky manor house, strange things moving in the shadows and trick doors to find and open with puzzles. BUT this soon got very old very quick - you never leave the manor house so no dusty tombs or Cairo markets as I hoped for. Just the same ten or so rooms, which you move though one way and then back out again to escape. I was glad in the end that it only took me about four hours game play to complete!
The graphics are grainy meaning its hard to tell what is what in some dark corners and it wont be long before you turn the sound off to block out Sherlock's grating voice. But don't worry, the text box will still pop up and take up half the screen whenever you try to look at something.
Some of the puzzle solutions are so obscure that you end up being glad of the built in walkthrough that means you don't have to struggle with anything for long before resorting to the clues - even though it feels very much like cheating, without doing so you would soon give up on trying to figure out the random sequence of events you need to complete to get a solution.
The story line is also a little weak and if there are any sequels, I will give them a wide berth. Broken Sword, although an older game ported over for the DS is by far superior in gameplay, storyline and characterisation - I'd recommend buying that instead.

Sherlock Holmes: The Mystery Of The Mummy (Nintendo DS)
This is no where near as good as Professor Layton and the Curious Village, which I couldn't put down.
The graphics are dark and the movement around the rooms can be erratic and annoying especially when you keep going into the same rooms all the time because you (or maybe its just me!!!) forget which door is which.
I haven't got to the end yet as I got bored with it, I will finish the game but am waiting for the sequel to Professor Layton to come out!
WAY too short!
I completed this game in a few hours, not what I was expecting given I had been walking about aimlessly for around half that time! lol. Fairynuff pretty much sums it all up. I haven't played broken sword on the DS but I have played the pc game. I'd strongly suggest that over this if you're looking for a point and click adventure.
